The ASHS-NT held a successful weekend on the 4th, 5th and 6th of June, at the Katherine Show Grounds. It was a great weekend, including a run off for the Your Shed Open Draft between President Wayne Bean and Stuart Boyce. Stuart prevailed to take home the Trophy, the Your Shed Rug and $1000 prize money.
Danny Hayes combined with Dee Boot Hazes to take out the ASHS Open. While Alison Haines stepped up to take out the Impact Mechanical Maiden Draft on Charlie, a horse borrowed for the weekend. Andrew Jones won the Top Saddlery Novice and his daughter Meg the Stephen Murphy Plumbing Junior Draft. Kate Townsend won the Elsey Pastoral Ladies Draft on Acres of Horizon. Tristram ‘Potter’ Holcombe, Head Stockman at Manbulloo, won his 2 Encouragement Draft in a row.
Saturday Night there was a great atmosphere as the Jackpot Open took place under lights. Amanda Howie on Koolewong Bonquet wowed the crowd with a 24 cutout, 63 and 4 for a 91, closely followed by Cathy Hayes and Dee Boot Haze with 90 and not so far behind Danny Hayes with an 89 on Rattlesnake.
The North Queensland Management Council donated 2 rugs for the weekend as the Highest Scoring ASHS Male and Female Riders from all events. These went to Danny Hayes and Cathy Hayes.
The Cattle where donated by CPC- Manbulloo Station, they were a great line of heifers and ran well all weekend. A great thanks goes to Jak Andrews and the staff for their work over the two and a half days. A big thank you to RTA for the carting the Cattle. Thanks to Cathy Hayes, Roz Boyce, Anna Kerwin and Lucy Daley for all their help over the weekend and the weeks leading up to this event without the help of these people and our valued sponsors we could not run such a successful Draft.
